OBSCURA
In the OBSCURA collection, sculptural darkness and organic forms take centre stage. They appear as if grown of their own accord, governed by a delicate interplay of contrasts: light and shadow, shimmer and depth, the natural and the dramatic.
Much like the human psyche, these pieces offer no easy answers. They shift and evolve depending on your perspective, your mood, or your proximity. Here, darkness becomes a space for reflection—a place to meet the reflection of your own emotions. The glossy surface acts like a "skin for the soul," protecting everything fragile within. Each form represents a state of being: at times tense, at others soft, or perhaps emerging from chaos.
I make each piece in the OBSCURA collection by hand, using black or brown stoneware. The forms come together slowly, built up in layers, giving the clay time to settle and take on its own character. Once the piece is ready, it’s fired at over 1200 °C, which gives it strength and a gentle, natural depth.
To bring out the finer details, I sometimes add a light glaze to catch the contours. In other areas, I use low‑fired white clay mixed with pigments to create contrast and a sense of brightness.
OBSCURA is about the meeting point between light and shadow — a space where tension, contrast and quiet beauty sit side by side.
